tourism destination in the Niagara Region) and attended high school
in St. Catharines and Beamsville. I attended the University of
Western Ontario and Osgoode Hall Law School.
I practiced law in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and now St. Catharines, Ontario. I practiced with large prestigious law firms in Toronto and Vancouver, as well as being a founding member of a well-regarded litigation boutique in Toronto, before returning to my roots. My practice is a general one, including commercial litigation, real estate (residential), wills, estates and aboriginal law. I bring to the table 16 solid years of advocacy experience. I have appeared before every level of Court in Ontario and British Columbia and acted as counsel on many complex commercial litigation matters. I have worked on complex briefs in the areas of aboriginal treaty interpretation, executive compensation (wrongful dismissal), lease disputes, shareholder disputes, franchising (both for and against franchisors), class actions, banking, technology disputes, professional liability (lawyers), insurance coverage, environmental contamination (both toxic torts and defence of environmental prosecutions), estate disputes and personal injury. I believe in the effectiveness of alternative dispute resolution (mediation and arbitration) in appropriate cases. I also act as counsel to Maurice Law, Barristers & Solicitors, a national aboriginal law practice focusing on land claims, aboriginal and treaty rights advocacy, industry consultation and First Nation economic development initiatives. You will find my approach frank, practical and incisive. I pick up the phone. There are no �layers of lawyers� at my firm where your problems are shuffled back and forth between associates. You deal with me -directly and personally. My fees are competitive and I will consider contingency arrangements in appropriate situations. I believe in planning and budgets in litigation.
